According to new research, genetic testing has revealed that some people with osteopoietic osteoarthritis (OA) have a mutation in the protein osteocalcin-1 (OCA1).
The researchers say this finding indicates that the gene OCA1 is a target of osteoclast therapy.
This is the first known genetic mutation to be linked to OA.
